Hidden between the inlets, moorland hamlets and market towns of Cornwall are a growing number of talented crafts-people, from candle makers and glassblowers, basket-makers and woodturners to quilters, potters and leather-workers. In this rural environment, small businesses strive hard to flourish, driven more by the quality of life than the demands of mass production and profit-driven enterprise.
As you will appreciate, many of these craft businesses are small ventures, often run single handedly and you may occasionally find the proprietor unavailable, so if you are planning a special journey it may be wiser to phone in advance rather than arrive unannounced.
