Skidden House Hotel is located in the centre of St Ives, only twenty yards from the harbour and Sorbeaches. We continue to welcome guests from all corners of the world, as has been done throughout Skidden's colourful 500 year history.

History is part of Skidden's background: At one time the home of Captain Samson who in circa.1760 brought to St Ives a wonderful Irish Stout that was destined to become world famous, making Skidden House the first Inn in Great Britain to sell Guinness.

At another time Skidden was the home of Bettsie Richards, better known to her regular customers as Bettsie Chilloff. In 1895 she lost the ale-house licence, not only for running the Inn as a Brothel, but also for putting smuggled rum and brandy in the beer and the Guinness.

We love the history of our place whilst bringing the highest of 21st Century standards and we concentrate on ensuring that Skidden House remains the ideal small hotel for you.
