The lead
into Easter and The Trail is just bursting and ready to go having been
held up by the recent very cold snap. There really has been a lot of work
carried out between Helland and Poley's Bridge this Winter - the surface
is much wider now and the cutting back of vegetation has completely opened
the Trail up. This combined with the work now being carried out on the
new section from Poley's Bridge to Wenford will, I predict, make the upper
reaches of the Camel Trail even more popular.

We
were greeted by a very large Slow Worm slithering across the Trail.

Downstream
close to the bridge at Wadebridge a new generation is developing. The
5 ducklings slipstream the parent or are in the lee of the wind. A bit
like mum, dad and offspring cycling really!

predator lurks and it is time to move away from danger. |

At
the other end of the trail take a wander around Padstow -
the stored lobster and crab pots will soon disappear as sea
conditions become more reliable! Be there early to get the
best of a unique environment.
Did
You Know? The first trains ran from Bodmin to Wadebridge
in 1834 extensions to Padstow and Wenford bridge were added
in 1890. The trains were used initially to carry sea sand
for use by Farmers as a lime base for fields. It also carried
clay for export by sailing ship from Wadebridge.
